Performance: In/divisible

Friday, April 8, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Diver Studio Theatre, Performing Arts Building
This event is open to the public.

What does it mean to be a citizen? What ought it mean? As citizens of the US, what do we owe one another – if anything? Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY) has proposed that universal military service is a crucial step towards an equal citizenry in the US. He argues that unless and until we all bear the burdens of war equally, we'll preserve an unjust and imbalanced system in which poor men of color pay the price for rich white men's wars. This devised performance invites audiences to consider Rangel's proposal as we simultaneously unravel larger questions about the nature of citizenship.
