Zhang Mengqi graduated from the Dance Academy of Minzu University of China in 2008. She has been a resident artist at CCD Workstation since 2009. She has made five documentary films in her self-portrait series: Self-portrait with Three Women (2010), Self-Portrait: At 47 KM (2011), Self-Portrait: Dancing at 47 KM (2012), Self-Portrait: Dreaming at 47 KM (2013), and Self-Portrait: Building the Bridge at 47 KM (2014). Her films have been shown in China and abroad, including at the Yamagata International Documentary Festival, Cinema Du Reel, and in Paris. Sponsored by AALAC and the dean of the faculty.
