Portland Baroque Orchestra: "The Old School"

Monica Huggett, director + violin

Experience the rich polyphonic scoring of 17th-century German music for voices, gambas, and recorders. J. S. Bach’s darkly scored Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 for violas, gambas, and violoncello leads the program, with a cantata by J. S. Bach’s father’s first cousin, Johann Christoph Bach. Soloists are soprano Yulia Van Doren, alto Laura Thoreson, tenor David Hendrix, and baritone Sumner Thompson.
