Benefits update from HR

Chair Massage

Chair massage is now available on campus and we've made a few changes since we started this program in December.  Chair massage is now on Wednesdays between 10 am and 4 pm and we have moved the location to the more serene greenroom B in Kaul (enter through the Kaul door that is closest to Commons, as the main entrance to Kaul is often locked).  Schedule a massage appointment on your Google calendar just as you would schedule any meeting and don't forget to "invite" our massage therapist, Theresa Braunstein.  Check availability before booking by adding the calendar "massage" to yours.  Should you have questions, contact Cypress Cohen or email Theresa at massage@reed.edu.  We encourage you to try this excellent campus amenity.  If we do not have enough participation, we won't be able to continue to offer this service.

Meditation

Drop in to noontime meditation in Eliot chapel on Thursdays.  You don't need to be on time and you may enter and leave at any time during between noon and 1 pm.  First bell rings at 12:10 pm and that's when we get started.  No experience is needed.  Come experience how refreshing it can be to sit quietly.  Contact Alan Shusterman with questions, or to subscribe to the Reed meditation blog and calendar.

Retirement Readiness Seminars

By popular demand, we will offer these seminars again in March to those who are considering retiring in the next five years.  See attached flyer for details.  We hope that with this advance notice, many of you will be able to attend.  Unfortunately we are not able to schedule make-up sessions, but we do plan to hold these seminars each year.

"Desk to 5K" Program for New Runners

For the second year, HR and the wellness committee will sponsor a program to help aspiring runners complete a 5K run this spring.  Contact Kelsey Wirtzfeld to express your interest and/or ask questions.

Other Reed Running News

Whether you are a beginning runner or a pro, you should consider joining the Reed Lunchrunners email list.  Most Thursdays at noon, Lunchrunners hit the road.  Lunchrunners wishes to reach out to new runners and they offer to help you find a running route that is right for you.  No runner is too fast or slow to join Lunchrunners!  Contact Ueli Stadler to join the email list and/or ask questions.

Join the Reed team for the Portland Shamrock Run in March.  If you register by January 31, the event organizers will make a small donation to Reed for each runner on our team.  When you register online, use code 9700 to join the Reed team.  Contact Todd Hesse to express your interest and/or ask questions.

February Fitness

Look for an email next week from the wellness committee about February Fitness events, including raffles, prizes, get-togethers and free lunchtime fitness classes during the week of Feb 15-19.  Contact Dayna Lamb or Mark Fowler with questions.
